Unhogged 1.1.0
Released 7 October 2026 · 12 new · 11 improved · 5 fixed
New
- Preferences: a Text size setting: Automatic, 85%, 100%, 115%, 130% or 150%.
- Window: ⌘+ and ⌘− make everything larger or smaller; ⌘0 goes back to Automatic.
- Window: Automatic changes as you move the window between your MacBook's screen and an external display.
- Thermals: each part of your Mac (performance cores, efficiency cores, graphics, Neural Engine, chip, storage, battery, logic board) has its own card with its temperature, a Normal, Warm, Hot or Off state, and how close it is to its limit.
- Thermals: a sentence at the top says whether your Mac is running cool and whether macOS is slowing it down.
- Thermals: select a part to see its sensors by name; "Show chip names" reveals the chip's own names.
- Menu bar: while the window is open, Unhogged has full menus: View (text size, sidebar, full screen), Go (every screen, ⌘1–⌘9), Window and Help.
- Pulse: redesigned as an overview of your whole Mac, in fixed rows: what's happening (with its fix), Processor and Memory with a chart each, then Storage, Battery, Thermals and Network, then what needs you, your AI agents and the apps using the most, then Graphics, Audio, Accessories, Servers & ports and Today.
- Pulse: each tile shows its state in a word when it needs attention (Busy, Tight, Low, Almost full, Warm, Hot, Throttling, Mic on, Forgotten). A hidden screen's tile is left out and its row closes the gap.
- Pulse: a Today tile shows how much memory Unhogged freed today, the busiest app, and the last fix.
- Processes: common macOS and developer processes say what they are in a sentence, such as
mds_stores("Spotlight indexing your files") orkernel_task("macOS itself…"), when you expand an app or open its drawer. - What's new: after an update, a short sheet shows what changed, with a link to each thing. Open it again from Preferences › About.
Improved
- All screens: text is larger. Nothing is smaller than 11 points, and body text matches macOS's 13.
- All screens: grey secondary text is darker in light mode and brighter in dark mode, so it's easier to read.
- All screens: pages use the width of a large window instead of a narrow column in the middle.
- External displays: text, icons and charts are larger automatically: 130% on a standard-resolution monitor (most 27" QHD screens), 115% on a large Retina display such as a 5K.
- Small windows: a large text size shrinks to the largest size that fits, and returns when the window is made wider.
- All screens: interface text uses the Mac's own font, SF Pro. Numbers keep Unhogged's monospaced figures.
- Charts: every chart is simpler. A line above it says what it shows ("Average 22% · Peak 57% at 3:45 PM, Claude Code"), the plot has only a few gridlines, and hovering explains any moment in words, including which app was using the most.
- Charts: lines grow in when a chart appears and numbers count to their new value. Turned off when Reduce Motion is on.
- Charts: a rare burst no longer flattens the rest of a chart; it runs off the top and the summary still gives the true peak.
- Charts: small charts are drawn to scale, so a steady reading looks steady instead of every wobble looking like a spike.
- Window: while a screen loads, its outline shows instead of an empty pane, and the window opens at your text size straight away.
Fixed
- Thermals: graphics, the Neural Engine and the camera processor showed 30°C while switched off. They now show Off.
- Thermals: sensors had Apple's internal names (PMU tdie1, pACC MTR Temp Sensor9) and five identical "gas gauge battery" rows. Each now has a plain name, such as P-core 3 or Battery sensor 2.
- Menu bar dropdown: the most urgent problem was listed twice, as the headline and again under Needs You. The headline now has its own button and the list starts with the next problem.
- Charts: on some screens a chart could push the page wider than the window, so it scrolled sideways.
- Accessories: the AirPods "Right" battery label was cut off.
Other changes
- Updates: when a new version is ready, a notification says so once (if notifications are on), with a link to what's new.
- Settings: a settings file from 1.0.2 opens in 1.1 with your choices kept, Automatic text size, and the What's new sheet shown once.
